Montgomery County Family Justice Center: Teen Dating Violence and Supporting Youth in Domestic Violence Situations

Spring Training for Prospective Volunteers

Starting Saturday, March 21

CASA volunteers bring a variety of experiences to their work as advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children. Pre-service training is an important part of our screening process for prospective volunteers. If you are interested in attending training, please fill out the information request form and you will receive information about the CASA volunteer role and an application. Identity, Inc: Support Services for Youth and Families

Nora Morales will talk about the programs and services Identity Inc. offers to support youth, including academic support, community engagement and youth opportunity centers, mental health and workforce development, as well as help for youth at risk of gang involvement.

Substance Abuse and Treatment: Supporting Youth and Families

Speaker: Kelly Foster, Adolescent Lead Therapist, Sandstone Cares

Many of our families, as well as some of our CASA youth, are dealing with substance use issues. Kelly Foster, Adolescent Lead Therapist at Sandstone Cares, will speak about the challenges of substance abuse in youth and the recovery process for youth and families.

CASA Book Club

Join us to discuss “10-25: The Science of Motivating Young People” by David Yeager. Participants will receive one hour of in-service credit for attending, plus 30 additional minutes for every 100 pages of the book read. Happy reading!
